Supporting People & Animals in
South Africa

Acornhoek, South Africa, is home to over 500,000 people. Many residents work in and around Kruger National Park—one of the world’s premier wildlife reserves—as guides, rangers, and hospitality staff. Their livelihoods depend on the land and animals that draw nearly one million visitors each year.

Yet thousands of families in Acornhoek lack access to safe drinking water. Women and children often travel long distances to collect water or use contaminated sources, leading to waterborne illness.

We’re partnering with our friend Jester and the people in her village near Okkerneutboom in the Acornhoek area and experts in water infrastructure to drill boreholes to provide clean water directly to households and install bathrooms, kitchens, and septic systems in people’s homes.

Through our good friends at Captivating Africa, we are supporting conservation efforts near Kruger National Park. Through donations from Good Day Giving Foundation, Captivating Africa can actively engage in a range of critical initiatives, including anti-poaching efforts, dehorning programs, emergency snare removal operations, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.

About Us

We're the Justus family from Portland, Oregon, USA. Four generations of our family have traveled to Acornhoek, South Africa over the past 30 years.

We were introduced to our friend Jester by our dear friends the MacCourt family. Jester welcomed us into her community. She shared meals, laughter, and love with us. The Hoedpsruit/Acornhoek area has become our favorite place in the world.

Now it’s our time to give back to a community and place that has given us so much. That’s why we started the Good Day Giving Foundation.
